James Mayor, British writer and journalist based in Lisbon

With a focus on culture, social change, sustainability and wine, and a special interest in Portugal, James’ work is published in Portuguese and British media, framing the issues of today, from hate speech to early onset Parkinson’s and AI to climate adaptation, through the voice of Portugal’s movers and shakers.

James has contributed to JancisRobinson.com, written for Arte Capital, interviewed legacy Douro winemakers such as Dirk Niepoort and Paul Symington (the interviews can be viewed on You Tube), and participated in Michael Portillo’s ‘Long Weekend in Lisbon’. For ‘Portugal Forward’, his column in The Resident, James meets Portugal’s innovators reshaping the future.  

Before locating to Portugal, James lived in Paris, ran a contemporary art gallery, and worked with international museums and the French luxury goods industry.
