JAMES MAYOR

Hello! I’m James Mayor, writer and journalist. I write about wine and food, sustainability, culture, travel, humanitarian affairs, and politics. My interviews scratch beneath the surface to provide up-close, personal and unexpected stories, tips and trends.

A talented winemaker is like a great artist, creating in a fertile space between agriculture and art. This makes for fascinating conversations!

my story

My interest in wine began with an internship at a Premier Cru estate in Bordeaux, in my early twenties.

After founding and directing an art gallery in Paris, and working for two decades as a consultant for the French luxury goods industry, in 2014 I moved to Portugal.

I divide my time between Lisbon and Porto, the gateway to one of the world’s most spectacular wine regions, the Douro.
